In the past, she was considered the greatest female tennis star. Kournikova did not have a great singles record, but was hugely successful in doubles. Also, she was a highly praised partner with Martina Hingis. She achieved worldwide popularity through her fashion and modeling work and is to date one of the top sought-after athletes on the web. She started her professional tennis career at age 14. She was one of the youngest player to compete for the Fed Cup ever and won it in the name of Russia. Young tennis star reached the U.S. Open at the age of 15 and reached Wimbledon's semi-finals around the time she turned 16. This tennis player had to give up professional play at 21 years old because of serious back issues.
